ISTE Standards for Students
Shapegrams are a good way to become your students’ favorite teacher! They get to have fun participating in drawing challenges while practicing perseverance and developing a growth mindset.
 
For teachers, there’s nothing to prepare. Simply send students the link to make a copy of one of the 60+ Shapegrams documents. Then students view the video, do the challenge, and then put their own personal spin on the picture.

  • Shapegrams are completely editable by teachers, so they can change the directions and activities to fit their needs before distributing to students.
  • Innovative teachers have made connections to literacy, math, science, and social studies with specific Shapegrams.
  • Skills students learn will be applied to future projects. Digital drawing and problem solving are aspects of almost any creative app or website.
International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) provides standards for the effective use of technology in schools worldwide. Here are the standards for students that Shapegrams most directly address:
 
1.1. Empowered Learner
  • 1.1.d. Students understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies.
1.4. Innovative Designer
  • 1.4.b. Students select and use digital tools to plan and manage a design process that considers design constraints and calculated risks.
  • 1.4.d. Students exhibit a tolerance for ambiguity, perseverance and the capacity to work with open-ended problems.
1.6. Creative Communicator
  • 1.6.a. Students choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired objectives of their creation or communication.
  • 1.6.b. Students create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital resources into new creations.
