Shape Student Learning with DonorsChoose

Shapegramming teachers have come up with the funds for their yearly Shapegrams membership in a variety of ways.

Some pay for their memberships themselves. For others, their school pays through credit card, purchase order, or reimbursement. Some are funded by a PTO or with fundraisers.

There’s another avenue for public school teachers to get funding for Shapegrams memberships: DonorsChoose.

Stephanie Potito’s Help Shape My Student’s Learning project was fully funded in three days. Take a look at her proposal that equips three teachers with Shapegrams memberships.
Shapegrams is not a DonorsChoose vendor, so you’ll need 6 points to create a Special Request project. Here’s how you earn and spend DonorsChoose points and here’s how to see how many points you have.

If you are writing a proposal for multiple teachers or for a school, you might consider a School Membership.

Teachers agree that the yearly membership fee provides great value, as it grants access to all 36 Shapegrams in the sequence. And, it gives access to new assorted Shapegrams as they are published.

  1. I started using Shapegrams with my middle-school aged, English Language Learners. Shapegrams is a wonderful way for students to be exposed to the English language, while learning new technical skills that can be carried over into other coursework, as well as future job skills. Then, I ask my students to use a video feedback to share with me the steps they took in creating Shapegrams. They are tasked with speaking in English, while also providing sequential steps, which is necessary in some of the English speaking skills assessments. Hooray for Shapegrams! My students love using Shapegrams and look forward to the next one. I look forward to watching and listening for student growth in their speaking and technical skills.
